year ender

and just like that, my favorite time of the year has come and gone.  i've literally waited all year for december, believing that things always get better this season.  the last stretch was the worst time and it made me glad that things worked out eventually.  all in God's time.  i knew i should just believe in His plans.

some really good things happened over the christmas holiday though.  material things.  the new ipad 2, the new refrigerator, the goodies the family got from family and friends, the baguio trip.  spiritually, i believe the little family has gone a little more deeper in faith.

and as 2011 comes to a close, here's hoping for a brighter year ahead.  looking forward to another new beginning.  and making things right.  abundance!!!!

dear santa claus

my friend was telling me the other day about how old her kids found out the truth about dear old santa.  and i was telling her how kids suddenly are no longer kids when they find out, to which she agreed.

and now, here i am, feeling like a kid again, jotting down my christmas wish list.  after all, i am still a kid at heart.  so here goes nothing...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
dear santa,
i know i've been good this year.  so please, please let me get what i want for christmas.  here's a list so you won't have a hard time thinking what to get me.
iphone 4g
you know i've wanted to replace my samsung d90 for some time now?  i love that it's dual sim but other than that, it doesn't really have anything else i like.
macbook air
i have been considering handing down my asus eeepc to the kids.  and since i want an apple phone, might as well get anmacbook air right?  ok, santa, if you're on a budget, an ipad will do.  or an ipod touch....?
nikon d90
i know, i know... i'm selfish, i admit that i am.  i already got my nikon d3000 last august but you know i'd buy the d90 if i had more moolah.
and if you think that's still too much, a 55-200mm AF-S f/4-5.6G lens for my existing d3000 will do.
and if it's not too much to ask, dear santa, i wouldn't mind getting a brand new car.
so, that's basically what i want right now.  god, i love christmas!  it's the only time of the year when wishes come true!
love,
chari
christmas 2009
my favorite time of the year has come and gone.
it's been generally a good 2009, despite minor problems here and there.  had good friends, good times.  my kids have grown much this year and so did my marriage.
got my new netbook right after christmas day.  an asus eeepc s101h in gold.  looks really handsome.  the specs are not the top choice but i love it all the same.  i could blog more now wherever i go.
thanks for all the good things, lord.  thanks for the not so good, too. ;)
air of christmas
the cold wind blew my hair, covering almost half my face as i pushed the pink stroller-cum-bike with little julla riding on it. from a few meters away, migo and some kids are arguing about whose turn it is to ride his blue bike. blinking lights witness this late afternoon activity here in our condo grounds. teenagers practicing a number probably for a christmas party. undoubtedly christmas is just around the corner...
migo got a new bike today. a blue bike that has a sidecar on it so that, according to him, he will be able to drive his sister around and other kids too. julla got what she's been longing for -- that pink stroller-and-bike-in-one, the one that has a handle at the back for an adult to push it around but at the same time, has pedals so she can ride it by herself later on.
we were supposed to go buy christmas gifts for my officemates, have my hair cut and styled, get myself a nice outfit for our office party and shoes to go with it too. that was the plan. that was the agenda for the day. and in consideration, since they were accompanying me, alright, we'll buy toys for them too. small inexpensive toys. this is supposed to be "my day" so we'll spend it my way.
but the day ended with their 2 bikes, well worth over the budget intended for my haircut, clothes and gifts. and all i got was a silver pair of flats bought at 50% off its original price -- not something for the office party.
i am happy. to see the glow in the faces of my 2 kids is enough for me to be content with not getting what i want. instead, them getting what they want. the money left is enough to last us till next payday but i don't mind. i'm just glad that i did what i did today.
